Pumpkin Bourbon Cocktail

2 ounces bourbon whiskey
1/2 ounce cointreau
2 ounces pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie puree)
1 ounce maple syrup
1/2 an orange, juiced
2 dashes orange bitters, such as these from Fee brothers
Place some ice in a shaker. Pour in the bourbon, cointreau, pumpkin, maple syrup, orange juice and the dashes of orange bitters and shake for a good solid 15 seconds.
Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice and serve with an orange peel.
