Pumpkin Bourbon Cocktail
My husband is a lover of bourbon. It's taking me a while to get used to it. I'd be lying if I said it was my drink of choice, but I will tell you, when I was creating this drink, I wanted to love bourbon and wanted it less "hot," and more sweet. I wanted flavors to bring out the bourbon without making me want to cringe. My husband is a picky sweet cocktail drinker. He kept taking sips. And sipping it then turned into finishing it... So, I took that as a win!
This may just change the game for me.
It's the perfect after dinner and holiday cocktail. I hope you love it!
- 2 ounces bourbon whiskey
- 1/2 ounce cointreau
- 2 ounces pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie puree)
- 1 ounce maple syrup
- 1/2 an orange, juiced
- 2 dashes orange bitters, such as these from Fee brothers
Place some ice in a shaker. Pour in the bourbon, cointreau, pumpkin, maple syrup, orange juice and the dashes of orange bitters and shake for a good solid 15 seconds.
Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice and serve with an orange peel.
