SnoCones...Not Just For Kids Anymore

The beach. Barbecues. Pool visits. Ice cream trucks....more specifically...snocones. These are all things that remind me of summer.

Why do kids get ALL the fun. I want an icy treat once in a while. That may have a little somethin' somethin' in it. Ya feel?

So I decided to make them.

Adult. Sno. Cones.

You know, with some ingredients you'd find in a margarita...and the result was well, really fun.

It's the perfect patriotic holiday cocktail treat. All red, white, blue, and boozy.

Adult Red, White, and Blue Sno Cones

Shopping List

Raspberry Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of raspberries (frozen is fine)
  • 1 lime, juiced

Blue Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 lime, juiced

Boozy Shopping List

For the Red

  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • 1/4 cup triple sec

For the Blue

  • 1/2 cup blue curacao

In a small sauce pan over medium heat, make your raspberry simple syrup. Place your water, sugar, lime, and raspberries in the pan and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat, let sit for an hour. Puree in a blender. Strain the raspberries so the liquid doesn't have any seeds. Add the tequila, cointreau, and 1 more lime, juiced. Store in a container and place in the refrigerator until you are ready to use.

For the blue simple syrup, follow the same process as above, omitting the raspberries and straining. Let cool. Add your blue curacao. Store in a container and place in the refrigerator until you are ready to use.

With a blender, sno cone maker, Margaritaville blender, or whatever you can get to shave ice (ice pick could work but man that would suck), shave a bunch of ice. On one side of the cup, pour your red syrup. On the other, your blue. Serve immediatly and make all the kids jelly.
