Bloody Martini

Overview

I love a good Bloody Mary, but sometimes I want the flavor of one, without the thickness.

JUST IN TIME for your holiday needs—Here’s the BLOODY MARTINI!

It’s base is made out of, what I am calling, vegetable water. You blend the first ingredients together, strain them, and then use that as your base cocktail.

The result is perfect for your holiday brunch or your evening wind down. Hope you enjoy it!

Makes about 2 cups of vegetable water

Hi, I’m Jackie, Founder of Jackie Cooks and Drinks, and a BIG believer that cooking, creating and entertaining should be FUN.

Shopping List

For the vegetable water

  • 5 roma tomatoes

  • ½ an onion

  • 2 small cucumbers

  • 1.5 tbsp horseradish

  • ½ a jalapeno (seeded)

  • juice of 1.5 limes

  • juice of 1 small lemon

  • couple heavy pinches of kosher salt

  • some black pepper

For the cocktails

  • vodka (2 ounces per drink)

  • tabasco sauce (dash or more depending how spicy)

  • Worcestershire sauce (dash or more depending how much you want)

  • lime juice or lemon juice (squeeze from a few wedges)

  • old bay seasoning (for rimming the glass)

  • celery salt (for rimming the glass)

  • garnishes: blue cheese stuffed olives, grape tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers, celery stalks, cucumber

Method

In a blender, combine all of the vegetable water ingredients. Puree until thick and there are no big chunks.

Next, grab a sieve and a 3 cup bowl, measuring cup, or large mason jar. Place the sieve on the opening of your bowl, and pour the blended vegetables on top. With a spoon, stir & push all the liquid through the sieve. Discard the pulp.

Once you’ve done this, do it again. I cleaned out the blender + sieve, then poured the vegetable water in the blender, and started the whole process again.

When the vegetable water is done, time to make your Bloody Martini!

For 1 drink:

Rim your martini glass; I first rim with lime juice, then dip the glass in a mixture of old bay seasoning + celery salt. Set aside.

Grab a shaker and fill it with ice. Then, pour two ounces of your favorite vodka, 2 ounces of vegetable water, a couple dashes of tabasco, dash of Worcestershire sauce, squeeze a few wedges of lime or lemon juice in the shaker and shake! Strain over the rimmed martini glass and garnish with your favorite garnishes! Cheers!
