A great simple syrup to keep in your fridge through the holiday season, I use this to make my spicy jalapeno cranberry margarita, or simply add to some soda water.
Cranberry Simple Syrup
Makes about 1 cup of syrup
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- zest of 1/2 an orange
In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring together the sugar and water to a simmer. Stir until dissolved. Add the fresh cranberries & zest and allow to cook for 10 minutes (when the cranberries start popping). Remove from heat and allow the cranberries to hangout in the syrup for about an hour.
When the hour is up, strain the cranberry simple syrup using a sieve over a mason jar or whatever vessel you’re storing your cranberry simple syrup in. Store in the fridge.
