A simple classic but full of flavor. The crunch of radishes with a hint of that radish spice. A crunchy, salty, buttery, flavorful crostini. This is an appetizer that is not only easy to make but delicious and addicting. If you are part of a CSA, you may get some radishes. And if you do, and you're looking for something to make with them, this is a perfect one for your next appetizer or summer barbecue.
Sliced Radishes with Herbed Butter
- 1 bunch of radishes washed and sliced very thin
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter at room temperature
- handful of chopped fresh herbs; chives, parsley, dill, basil all work wonderful
- coarse sea salt
- 1 baguette, sliced 1/4" thick to make crostini
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place baguette slices on a baking sheet and spray with non stick spray or brush with olive oil. Sprinkle with some coarse sea salt. Bake in the oven for 7-10 minutes until slightly crispy.
While the crostini are in the oven, mix together the butter and chopped herbs.
Remove crostini from the oven and let cool. Once cool, spread the herbaceous butter on the crostini slices. Place the sliced radishes on top of the butter slathered bread. Top with coarse sea salt and additional chopped herbs if you so desire.
