GingerBread Syrup

Overview

Want to make a gingerbread syrup that rivals Starbucks?

I gotchu with this one! (high fives everyone!)

Alright my friends.

I am ALL ABOUT festive drinks from coffeeshops like Starbucks, Peets, and Dunkins but you know what I really like?

Knowing what is in my drinks….specifically the syrups in which the drinks are made from!

This gingerbread syrup rivals the coffeehouses, it can be used for martinis (recipe coming soon!) or an old fashioned (recipe coming soon, again!), or of course, a gingerbread latte. I am telling you. It’s rich. It’s sweet. and it has ingredients you can pronounce. Now go make it- pin it, tweet it, share it on insta- I’d love to see your creationa with this one!

Makes about 1 cup of syrup.

Shopping List

  • 1 c water

  • 1 c dark brown sugar

  • 1/4 c molasses

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp ginger

  • 1/2 tsp cloves

  • 1/2 tsp orange zest

Method

Bring all ingredients to a boil in a small saucepan. Whisk after each addition.

Lower the heat to medium heat; the syrup should still be simmering. You will want to watch this syrup so don’t multitask while you’re making it!

Whisk every so often to ensure it doesn’t boil over. Your goal here is to slightly thicken the syrup. This process takes between 5-10 minutes. Once thicken and slightly reduced, remove from the heat, allow to cool, and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week!
