Cuisine Chinese
- 1 tsp neutral flavored oil like canola, grapeseed, or sunflower
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1" ginger knob, peeled and minced
- 1-2 tsp of Chinese Five Spice, more to taste
- 1/2 cup of miso paste. I like to use Miso Master mellow white or the sweet red miso paste!
- 3/4 cup grade a maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp rice vinegar
In a small sauce pan over medium low heat, add your oil and the garlic and ginger. Stir for about 30-45 seconds until fragrant. Next, add in your five spice. Give it a stir. Grabbing your whisk, whisk in the miso paste and the maple syrup and whisk until smooth. Pour in the vinegar and give a whisk. Bring the heat to a low boil, stirring constantly. Do this for about 3-5 minutes to let the sauce thicken a bit.Store in an airtight container for up to a week in your fridge. Use on anything you'd throw hoisin sauce on!
