- 1 cup water
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp orange zest
Bring all ingredients to a boil in a small saucepan. Whisk after each addition.Lower the heat to medium heat; the syrup should still be simmering. You will want to watch this syrup so don't multitask while you're making it!Whisk every so often to ensure it doesn't boil over. Your goal here is to slightly thicken the syrup. This process takes between 5-10 minutes. Once thicken and slightly reduced, remove from the heat, allow to cool, and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week!
