Guys.

Onion dip should be respected. served. enjoyed.

With a little time and not that much effort (promise) you can make a carmelized onion dip that is so addicting you’ll try to figure out ways to continue to eat and incorporate the dip if you have leftovers after your next bbq or party. Trust me.

Do you like to dip things into dip? Great! This is for you. I just ate it for the third day straight and I am pretty sure I am becoming a caramelized onion.

Shopping List

  • 3 large yellow onions, sliced very thin
  • 2 tbsp butter

  • kosher salt

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 cup greek yogurt

  • 8 ounces softened cream cheese

  • 1 tbsp liquid aminos or soy sauce

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt

Method

Make the caramelized onions. Melt 2 tbsp of butter over medium low heat. Add the onions and allow to cook for a few minutes. Hit them with a sprinkle of kosher salt and the sugar. Allow the onions to cook down, about 45 minutes, on low heat, stirring occasionally, until golden. Set aside.

Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, mix together the greek yogurt, cream cheese, liquid aminos or soy sauce, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp kosher salt , and black pepper. Mix in 2/3 of the onions into the dip. Once combined, pile the rest of the onions on top. Place in the fridge until ready to serve!

Potato chips, crackers, celery, carrots, broccoli— you name it, you can dip into this. Enjoy!
